  1. i think its a sad but universal fact that some parents put themselves & their needs before those of their children. Sometimes, like in this case, its bcos of a substance abuse problem...alcoholism, sometimes its a terrible chance decision & sometimes its just plain selfish cruelty.

Methinks that as much as this Mum loves her Ariella, she should have conquered her addiction before taking off on a holiday thereby putting them both in a dangerous situation.

  2. Why is it that the Children are the ones that suffer all the time through the actions of their parents. In lots of cases that you read in the Papers and on the news, these people should be thrown into Homes instead of the children. Some so called Parents are not fit to have any children at all, as they throw them about as though they are rubbish, and do not care what happens to them. Here we have an   eight year old girl in a strange Country put into a home, while her Mother gets drunk, and that is disgusting. I feel so sorry for her to be in a strange Country, with kids that you do not know, and your so called Mother getting drunk. They should send the girl home to perhaps her Grandmother if she has one, but at least get her out of there. If I was her relative she would be with me instead of in a home.

  3. The child is half portuguese and the father has been spiteful.

How frightened must that child be !

They Portuguese will jump on ANY chance to expose a Briton who has kids and drinks.

It's all because of Madeleine's shambolic investigation.

  4. Well, what can you say.

Some people just don't deserve kids.

However, she will get off with it - the Portuguese authorities and the McCanns have set a very dangerous precedent.

  5. I think that it is more than possible that the Portuguese police are learning from past mistakes.

I also take the view that if ALL people were as vigilant, maybe fewer children would go missing irrespective of class, income or social position.
