  1. This person wants to avoid suffering, which isn't possible in this manner.  In this mindset they will suffer one way or the other.  If your understanding is that we reincarnate, death is not a good solution to avoiding pain and suffering.

All the same, what we are contemplating here is essentially the suicide of a healthy individual, which automatically demonstrates a very high degree of personal suffering, attachment to enjoyable conditions, and need to control.  These are all miserable states.

Better that such a person should live as best they can, and inquire into the truth in order that they gain some measure of freedom before they do eventually die.

  2. Well, before my mom passed away, while in the grips of memory loss, she joked that she didnt need to buy new books, by the time she reread the old ones she had forgotten the plot.

  3. If you ever lived with someone with Alzheimer's you would know.

Quick question for you; would you rather live a long drawn out life of pain and misery, or a short life of love and excitement, and zest?

  4. the person doesn't want to be remembered as a shell of what they used to be.  they don't want to die when they are sick with alzheimer's and can't remember their own children or wife.  they want to die happy.  they would rather die healthy and when they are happy and people will remember them being happy instead of remembering them as sickly and depressed.  my grandma died a very drawn out death and it takes a toll on everyone that could remember her as a vibrant woman.
