What do you mean by TEU in container traffic?

Stands for Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit.  This is an approximate measure of the capacity of a container used for shipping goods relative to a standard (the 20' one).  Thus, a container will be 1 TEU if it is the same as a 20' container and 2.65 TEU if it is a big one (53').  Note that containers are not standard heights so this causes confusion.
