  1. I've dealt with viscosity a fair amount and never ran across the term "industrial viscosity" !

Inherent viscosity, yes [measure of molecular weight for a polymer].

Can you give some context ?  Are there units ?

  2. Actually definition of viscosity never be changed, but with reference to your question is:

"when measuring viscosity it simultaneously measures real-time viscosity, density and temperature and can be configured to output either dynamic or kinematic viscosity"

"continuous online liquid viscosity measurement in pipelines or static tanks"

Some of the critical application requires constant viscosity.

  3. This is a guess.

I think "industrial viscosity" would use a unit of industrial standards. The standardized units would help to contrast and compare materials with each other during the research and developmental stages. This would help to determine if the product is "better" than its predecessor based on stardardized limits of operation of the product.
