  1. Much the same as 'draw attention to'.

    Extensive reading & listening is possibly the best way to improve in all aspects - they improve reading & listening, naturally, but also vocabulary, grammar, writing, and speaking and pronunciation (in the case of listening, at least).  Especially simply listening for personal enjoyment.

    However, consciously focusing on specific 'new' words, patterns, or structures, can greatly increase your understanding of that item.  So the best kind of learning involves reading & listening for personal enjoyment  +  opportunities for noticing and focusing on specific language points within the texts you are reading/listening to.
