  1. crocs hav a gland near their eyes dat constantly secrete ..sumthing similar 2 tears ..there by they aren't actually crying...so this trem is used wen som1 is faking abt crying

  2. Huge, insincere ( not genuine) tears.

  3. at least in my culture it means: a bad person is trying to pretend to be kind. a bad person like a crocodile.... so a crocodile's tears are not to be trusted.

  4. Crying dreadfully for no particular reason

  5. The lachrimal gland produces tears that are conveyed through the lachrimal duct to the outer surface of the eye ball, keeping it moist & free from dust & particulate matter that may settle on the outer surface of the eye .This same function of lubrication occurs in most animals,

In humans however  flow of tears occurs in emotional situations like sorow or elation, this is a flow sufficient to escape out of the eys in what we know as tears ,the process is also called lachrimation. These emotional tears are said to occur only in humans.

Since the lachrimal secretion in a corocodile has nothing to do with emotions ,they were taken as fake tears,so anyone faking deep emotional upset ,is said to be shedding crocodile tears .

  6. Crocodile tears refers to crying, but when it's insincere or "fake." Crocodiles can't cry (because they lack tear ducts), so that's where the phrase comes from.

  7. Crocodiles cry to keep their eyes moist. To refer to a human crying crocodile tears is to imply they aren't really sad.
