What do you mean by "snipe" when used in forum discussions?

In the forums/discussion boards I've visited recently, I noticed that members at some point would type in 'SNIPE'. One even had a comment that a particular member sniped without even knowing it. How is SNIPE used in this context?

Thanks

  1. Snipe is just a fancy word for 'snatch'.

E.g. You snatched that from me - You sniped that from me.

    Hope that helped

  2. Are you SURE it's snipe? Maybe you mean SNIP?

If it's snip.. it just means that they "snipped out" sections of the question or previous answer to avoid making a rather LONG discussion.

    I hope that's what you meant. :)
