Both of these are derivatives.

Option is a contract, which has a market value like any other tradable commodity.  If you anticipate a certain directional movement in the price of a stock, the right to buy or sell that stock at a predetermined price, for a specific duration of time is called as Option trading

Futures and option is a contract to execute the order to buy or sell a share at the near future recorded in the contract. The price of the shares would be the current price at the time of the contract.
