  1. 1. In general, it is a work of such quality as could only be produced by a master of the art, or the very best in the field. It is the sort of work that students of the art should study to build their own understanding of what is the best.

    2. In personal terms, it is generally acknowledged as the best work of the artist concerned.

  2. Masterpiece refers to any work of art that is considered extraordinary. The phrase is generally used to describe what is considered an artist's best piece of work.

  3. well its pretty straight forward ............why dont you have a look at some "masterpieces " !! .........have you ever seen the "david " ?? ..........there are  some unbelievable works of art  out there , you know what I thought were masterpieces ?........ there are statues  that  michael angelo  started , but never finished , and they are in a london museum , and if you have the privelage to see these  half created  masterfull works of art , you can see how michael angelo has almost drawn the mans face out of the marble block ! and has then had to stop because the "pope "of the time had called him to do other work ,  I am not sure what kind of work you do , but if you ever get  a chance to see these incredible works .....ask your self this question , ........how good am I at my job !!

  4. If it is considered a masterpiece, it means that it has stood the test of time.  It seems ageless.  It is above everything else that the artist did, not saying an artist cannot have more than one masterpiece, but there might other works that the artist did that do not seem to compare.
