1.) If the blanket is short, cuddle up.

2.) It is easy to cure the body of its wound;

It is difficult to cure a wound inflicted on one's honor.

3.) You cannot say that the water is deep,

If you have not yet plumbed its depths.

4.) Not all that glitters is gold.

  1. 2) is pretty much saying that there are medicines and everything to cure cuts and other things, but there is no medicine to cure a person of their pride being hurt...


  2. 1.  Make the most of what you have / scrimp and save to provide with what you have.

    2.  Human memory lasts longer than physical wounds.  Mental wounds cannot be fought in the same manner as physical wounds, and may never be cured.  This is especially appropriate when you consider that psychology is relatively new, and all of the old methods are general discounted as not working at all.

    3.  Avoid making claims about things that you have not actually explored.  You don't know the truth until you've studied it.

    4.  Just because it looks/feels/seems great, doesn't mean that it is great.

  3. Everyone is giving good answers on 1, 3, & 4, I couldn't improve, but I'd add this about 2:

    A wound to someone's honor is when you do something that lessens you - lessens the person you are.  It's a self-inflicted wound to your own self-respect, and it's a tough thing to undo.  Like if you cheat on your wife.  Once you've done that, you can't undo it.  You may be forgiven, but it's always there now, always a part of your history.

    That's what's meant by a wound to your honor.
