What do you measure radiation in?

I mean the SI unit. IF there is more than one please list the most popular used one.

  1. There is a range of units used, depending on what one is worried about. For structural damage, it is measured in rads. For biological damage, it is measured in rems (radiation equivilent man).

    Another application is for measuring radiation from the sun, it is measured in kilowatts per square meter. There are whole books related to radiation units and what damage is done by particular types in the library and internet.


  2. The Roentgen (R) is the measure of the ionization produced in air by x or gamma radiation. This is probably the most popular unit of measure for radiation, in fact I've heard of it a few times before I looked it up. There's also the RAD, REM, Curie, and a few others.

    There are many types of radiation so there are different units to measure it
