What do you need in high school to be a dental hygentist??

my friends wants to be a denstist but shes not sure what to take

I am a dental assistant of 2yrs.  I didn't know until 2 yrs after high school that's what I'd be doing.  But if I could go back, I would have taken all the biology classes I could bc when you're working with teeth, you'll find out there's lots of other parts of the body that are affected by teeth.  Also, take any chemistry classes.  You'll be dealing with lots of people on meds and you'll need to know how they will affect their bodies if you're cleaning their teeth, or if you need to put them on meds to clear up infections and things.  If your high school offers nursing vo tec courses, they will be helpful too bc you'll learn how anstheics will work and how blood pressure and stuff like that works.

You'll be surprised how much your body is affected by your teeth.  I enjoy cleaning teeth.  I know that might sound weird, but I'm very happy with my job.

umm im not quit sure but she'll need to take some medical electives or courses if ur school offers any

it all depends on the school.

when ur an upperclassmen im pretty sure she can intern for a dental hygentist too
