If you have a checking account you can go to your bank, endorse the back of the check, and hand that and your I.D. (I usually give them my debit card too to avoid any confusion) over to a banker.  You'll be asked to either deposit it or receive cash back and if you want cash--cash back is your choice.

If you don't have a checking account with a bank, you can take the check to WalMart at customer service and cash the check through there.

Well you ever heard that saying, "Theres no such thing as a studpid question." Well thats not true. You need a check and an ID. DUH
