If you want to work on the sales floor for example. Do you think they'd be receptive to someone who doesn't know much, but is willing to learn, just asking for a job on the floor? This is a rather largeish and prestigious retail shop - they also have beer and liquor sections. If you wanted to study up for the job, what resources would you use?

  1. motivation and desire, you don't make enough money to study for that kind of job, you just learn as you go

  2. If you really want to work at a wine shop, read up as much as you can on wine varieties.  Learn the different whites and reds on the market.  If they offer a job in the warehouse, take it and continue to brush up on your knowledge of wine.

Most employers are very keen on employees who are willing to work and striving to learn.
