  1. Passport and Visa

First you need to apply for a passport, you will generally get a passport if you have a birth certificate, residence proof etc.

To go to another country you need a visa granted by the country. So first you will have to file a visa application, if it is granted you will get the visa stamped on your passport.

Then you need to make financial arrangements to buy a ticket and travel!

  2. Where are you going and by what means?  If you are FLYING outside the U.S to anywhere in the world, you must have a passport.  If you plan to travel to and from Canada and the U.S. or Mexico and the U.S. by LAND, you do not need a passport until june 2009.  You do need a photo I.D. and birth certificate.  See site below.  Passpots are not required for Caribbean cruises either, except when the cruise line requires them.  Some countries require you to have a visa.  you can use the 2nd site below, select the country you want, and read under "Entry Requiremente" to see if you need a visa.

  3. You HAVE to have a passport I know but you may need more
