Well in my state all you need is paper work on the boat. you don't need a license to drive one and at least 16 years old.

in MOST states you just need a drivers lisense and it works the same(w/  a permit you need an adult 21+ w/  you to drive and if you just got your lisense you have to wait 3 months  before taking others under 18.

well it depends.. if you are under 18 then u need a boating lisence. if u are over 18 you should stil be on the safe side and get one. you can take an online test at www.boated.com    this is where i got my boating lisence

you have to have your boat outfitted with all the coast gaurd required items life vests fire extiguishers  etc  and insurnance. above that ... not a thing just the love of the water and hopefullly a brain. but if you plan on operating for profit u need a captians licence .   This will run you any where from 400 bux to 1000 depending on the school you go to.Seriouly before you buy and operate a Vessel take a safe boater course. im sure there is a place near you that have classes
