  1. As a sox fan, I'm sad to see Manny go, although it was bound to happen sometime, its leaves a pretty big gap in the lineup and Jason Bay will probably never fill it. He's a great addition to the dodgers tho, Congrats!

  2. I just love how all la fans love him.   So did jay hit a three run homer today.

You guys are going to strech him alitte too much he a hof but you need to know he going to stirke out, ground out he not going to hit homeruns every single game.

  3. I think he will help the Dodgers but they need more to win the west . The Diamondbacks are the class of the west again this year ! Pitching wins the west , go D'backs !

  4. Mistake!

Yeah right Jason Bay is a way better fielder and a better solid player all around.

Manny isn't driving in those 165 RBI seasons anymore and Jason Bay is still very young only 29!

Manny and his antics with all the players was bad for the club house and it was poison.

I am actually not a Red Sox fan but I follow every team in the MLB very closely.

    Go Twins!

  5. WELL THE DODGERS WILL NEED MORE THAN RAMIREZ TO GO TO THE WORLD SERIES THIS YEAR....

  6. He was an awesome player in Boston and is an awesome player in LA.  His attitude sucks so fans hate him.  If he's cutting his hair to please Torre, this is a good sign.

  7. He has a good bat, but is terrible with everything else. As long as he produces with the bat, they'll be happy, but if that ever leaves, he's utterly useless.

  8. For the Dodgers, this move definitely helps their chances this season.  It makes them much more likely to make the playoffs and potentially go deep into it.  They have a much better lineup with Manny Ramirez and they gave up Andy LaRoche, who was not going to be much of a factor this season.  The now have up to nine good hitters (Martin, Loney, Kent, Blake, Manny, Pierre, Kemp and if Furcal and/or Nomar come back it would give them a great lineup and fill their shortstop hole and also a legit bat off the bench), which is very rare for a National League team.  You put that with a rotation of Billingsley, Lowe, Kuroda and Penny and they will be a force in the playoffs.

Andy LaRoche is currently a good AAA hitter - he had an OPS of .950 and .988 the last two years in Las Vegas - but is not yet major league ready, as he has hit only .218 in the majors so far.

Manny Ramirez has hit 20 homers each of the past 14 seasons and his career .313/.409/.590 line is ridiculous.  He may be aging but he is still good for .300/30/100 in the AL, so who knows what he will put up in the NL.

It hurts the Dodgers in the long run, as Manny is 36 and eligible for free agency after this season.  He will most likely not remain with the Dodgers.  Andy LaRoche, on the other hand, would have been a Dodger for many years, and at the age of 24, should develop into a very good major leaguer.  Therefore, bottom line, this trade will help the Dodgers this year, but hurt their future.  They are going for it, and honestly, they haven't won a playoff series since 1988, and you have to go for it every once in a while.

    Good move.

  9. The Dodgers are near the bottom in hitting and they got exactly what they needed. They are still short of a good hitting team but Manny will fix a lot of offensive issues. The Dodgers have one of the best pitching and they just need to complement that with hitting. Manny will stay only for the rest of the season but that will be enough to win the weak NL West. If they got hot they can have a magical run like the Rockies but the chances of that are pretty slim.

As for the Red Sox, they did lose Manny but Manny is old and doesn't have a lot of years left. Plus he had an issue with Youkilis and a team associate and also was a pain in the *** for the Sox. They did both parties a favor by shipping him off and replacing him with Jason Bay, a young, talented ballplayer with a lot of great years to come. Bay has struggled for the past few years but he has tremendous upside.

In the short term, people think that LA got the better part of the deal, but in the long run, Manny won't play another 5 years, probably won't sign with the Dodgers after this season, but Bay will stick with the Sox and he is young. Manny is basically a Rent-a-bat and Sox will have the better deal in the future, unless Manny stays with LA until he retires and wins a couple rings.

Hard not to be on the Manny bandwagon as a Dodger fan though.

  10. i think the sox made a mistake trading him although bay has done well for them. They won with "manny being manny" before, and they can do it now

  11. I swear to god I will punch someone in the face if I see another Manny question, enough already

  12. As a Dodgers fan I am happy we have power, He homered today

  13. I think that the Dodgers will win a lot more games with the acquisition of Manny. On the other hand, the Red Sox in my opinion can't win without him. He has been a major part of their success and now they've put a stop to that.

  14. I'm a Yankee fan to the end, but I liked Manny even if he was on the RedSox. I think that the Dodgers are a much better team with Manny. I still don't understand why he had to leave Boston if they are still paying his contract. The Boston leadership should have talked to Manny and kept Manny until the end of the season then re-examined there relationship with Manny! All Boston did was make LA strong and took away the  Yankee Killer!

  15. I think that the Sox got the better end of this deal. Manny was a good slugger and all, he was just slacking on the job. In the middle of the season he was trying to make another deal with a different team. When a ball got hit to him you could tell he didn't hustle enough. It was like watching a baby throw a fit just to get what he wants.

  16. boston is paying $7 mill of his salary..........it's a great deal for LA

  17. Dodgers win with this trade.  Boston was desperate to get rid of him and LA took advantage.  He'll hustle for the rest of the season.  I don't think it's enough for the Dodgers to get anywhere in the playoffs, but it's still a great trade for them, even if he doesn't stay next yr.

  18. I think that the sox made a mistake. He was the 2nd best player they had. Since josh beckett is the first they made a mistake .

  19. he hit a home run today. its good for the team.

  20. Hmmmm!

Well he must have been a major pain in the butt if Boston is going to pay such a large chuck of his salary to play for another team.

I was once a big Manny fan, but he has become such an entitled self centered pain, I'm glad to see him go.

  21. i think the red sox came out as winners in this while the dodgers are the losers. manny was a huge distraction to the team.members of the team even confronted the fornt office and told them manyy had to go.although the red sox loses a huge bat they got still got ap retty good bat in return plus jason bay's defense is a lot better than mannys.bay is also still under contract for next year so the red sox are still set in left after the seasion where manny is gonna become a free agent.the dodgers gave up 2 prospects just for a 2 month rental in manny.manny does give the dodgers a better chance in winning but thats only for 2 months at the cost of 2 prospects.

  22. Post Manny Red Sox are 2-0, with Bay contributing to both wins.

Manny for Bay is OK, I just didn't like having to give up those two players.

  23. That was a trade for the Dodgers, they got a player playing for a big contract so you know he is going to do good. Like today he hit a two run homer

  24. i don't know any dodger fan that doesn't like manny on the dodgers. he is really good for the team.

  25. Everyone is on the Manny bandwagon!  No one said he  is a bad or washed out player, but first of all the Dodgers front office has no intentions of keeping him next year with what he is seeking, and when the first argument breaks out between him and Kent or when Martin wants to know why its all Manny all the time, you just wait for the trash talk to start.  The Dodgers and even the fans didnt like Bradley for his arguments with teammates, just wait until Manny says hey guys if you could hit the ball sometime!

I do like that he is postitive yet so far, but as in all honeymooons they end at some point....Still the Dodgers have no chance against an AL team (if they make it that far in the NLCS) and definitly not Boston or the Angels who a likely ALCS champ would be...
