  1. what type of insurance are you after?

  2. Depends on what you are insuring.

Usually works out cheaper to have it continuous for a year, and you can earn no claims bonus on annual insurance. Various installment plans offered by different copanies, but watch the AER or APR interest rate. May be cheaper to use a credit card to pay if you have one. Best advice - shop around, get plenty of quotes.

  3. depends wot kinda insurance. eg life insurance u can cancle it bt lose ur money u already put in

  4. What type of insurance are you referring to?

    Car?

    Homeowners?

    Life?

EDIT: Car Insurance policies are typically for a year, but you can switch almost anytime. You can also choose how to pay for it. All up front, monthly, twice a year, etc. Upfront, you're usually required to pay the first monthly payment, but some companies charge a processing fee on top of that.

Shop around. Rates are based on your age, driving record, where you live/garage the vehicle, how you use it, what types of safety devices are in/on the car, what type of coverage (bodily injury, indemnity, collision, etc).
