What do you people think of the g*y culture in SLC Utah?

I'm just wondering? I live in Salt Lake City and know what it is like and I am just wondering if people have presumptions about Utah that may be right or wrong. So spill.

Salt Lake City, like most cities, has any number of vibrant subcultures that operate relatively freely, if somewhat more quietly than elsewhere.  What holds back Salt Lake City, just like other cities in the U.S., is the rural part of the state... which, in the case of Utah, is most of the state. The big problem for Utah as for most of the southern states is the sheer extent to which secular culture is restricted to urban areas as contrasted with the prevalence of a repressive religious culture throughout most of the countryside.

Things will eventually change with the spread of secular values throughout the state. This will only happen by an influx of progressive people throughout more and more of the state. In other words, more openly g*y people throughout Utah would most likely do a lot to improve the state.
