What do you prefer Lowe's or Home Depot?? and Why??

To buy stuff to fix your house and buy paint and stuff to decor, what do you prefer Lowe's or Home Depot?

Home Depot if you need to fix something, Lowe's if you are doing decorating.

My experience has been that Home Depot's prices are better than Lowe's.

Lowe's. I travel a lot and have to go to whatever store is available in that area. I have found that Lowe's has a better selection of what I need. It is cleaner and finding something is easier (some times I wonder who puts things where they are in both stores but...). I am an Engineer fo a construction company so what I look for may be different than what you look for. When I'm home I still like Lowe's for my persona things.(Lowes and HD are on opposite sides of the street where I live)

I liked Home Depot until Lowe's came so close to my house it was silly to go anywhere else.  Since I have moved, I use hardware stores since they are closer and smaller.

I only go to Menard's if I absolutely have too.  I hate that song they play.

I like going to Lowe's best.  there prices are generally lower, and the people are more knowledgeable.

I don't see much difference.  I like Lowe's a little better because the aisles are less cluttered and it seems neater.  But it might just be the stores here.  I would go to the one closest.

Lowes because they built one that is closer to my house then Home Depot.

It all depends who you ask... Lowes was intentionally designed for women. If you notice the shelves are all a lower height (since women are shorter) and the ceilings and walls are painted soft soothing colors. There are more "pretty" things for sale as well!

Home Depot on the other hand was intentionally designed for a man. Bright bold man colors. Tall giant shelves that you need a forklift to get thigns down from!  more DIY pieces parts and machinery!

This is the truth!!  So it all depends who you ask!

in terms of cost. Their prices are almost identical. They both can boast "we have the lowest prices" because they carry different brands. One store will have a Crane Toilet while another store has a Kohler toilet. Both cost $120. So technically they both have the lowest price because neither carry the same products. Its all "slight of hand" type stuff.

I personally like Lowes. Their stuff suits my style more. They seem a little more contemporary. I also have had better experiences with discounts on damaged merchandise and returns.  Home Depot often gives me a hard time. Although they will ultimately give me a refund....its a fight to get it.  (I'm actually battling HD now over some bad paint!)

So its all a matter of perspective and experience.

I like Home Depot because things are cheaper, but Lowes has more prettier items. It is up to you, Lowes is more a house thing, and Home Depot is more a apartment thing. I do a lot of apartment work and Lowes does not sell any of the items, well the older apartments though. I say Home Depot
