What do you prefer...ducks or chickens???

It is my bday soon and i want either two ducks or two chickens but which? Which is easier to look after?

Chickens,they are cleaner,can become very tame & i find are just lovelier birds than ,ducks,these are dirty(they muddy their waters quickly,& do huge runny poohs everywhere) & can be very loud.

I have both 24 chickens & the 1 duck we had about 7 ducks at one time but we never replaced them as they died,were not as keen on keeping ducks! Chickens though are sweet little pets(normally) they are quieter (as long as its hens you have!) & i have a close bond with a mix breed hen,she follows me round when i am in the garden,has even walked into the house! (though i wouldnt keep her in the house...) So i would say chickens are easier to look after! Oh by the way you can keep chooks & ducks together,so say 2 ducks & 2 chooks. I think ducks are annoying they bite your fingers & don't look cute,where sweet little chickens don't,grab you fingers or look stupid!!

Chickens can at least lay eggs you can eat.

Domestic ducks tend to become nasty (nipping and chasing people) and usually end up fat and can't even fly, which is basically a form of torture.

I look after some hens and a c**k. Its easy to look after them and you get fresh eggs every day. Clean water every other day. Clean them out every other day. Feed them morning and early evening. It doesn't take long but you have to be careful of foxes.

Ducks, I rarely eat chicken any more, not after seeing what battery conditions are like, so I mainly eat duck out of the two.

Well, if you're not planning on eating them, then I would still suggest the duck, my next door neighbour had chickens when we were growing up and the noise, the smell and the mess they made were horrible, crowing at odd hours and waking everyone in the street up, not very popular at all.

i would say ducks.

because chickens will cluck constantly

and ducks will only quack every now and then.

chickens also bite !

why do you want ducks and chickens any way ?

if you have a small space you should be

thinking about where they can rome around.

or they will get irritated by the amount of space they have.

Get one of each.

You can teach the chicken to quack and the duck to cluck.

If you live in the country and have lots of open space either will be fine. But they are not really pets, like a dog or a cat. If you would be happy to let them run around the yard and take care of them then either would be a good choice. A duck will need a pond to swim in though.

I like ducks better.  They are so cute.  I love the baby duckies!  This boy I knew threw a stick at a duck one time and I felt so bad for the ducky!  I hate that boy now.  It was this boy I used to like.  It's a long story.

Ducks are cuter, friendlier and will tolerate handling a bit more than chickens.

Plus they will eat bugs in your garden without destroying your plants like chickens will.

Ducks!  I've owned them.  They are cuter and have more personality than chickens.  They will come to you and can be petted.  My two white pekins thought they were dogs.  However, ducks, like chickens, really stink.  If you are wanting them for eggs, get chickens.

ducks, they're well cute, my uncle had three, as for chickens they're also awsome but if you want a happy pet, go for the duck :)
