  1. i dont know if i would give loot bags to the younger ones (under 24 months)... however, at the dollar zone at Target they have stacking cups and squishy blocks that do say 3+ years on them, but my 1 year old plays with the stacking cups. You might be able to find other items there too.

  2. depending on how many children there will be and what your budget is...I would get them each a small toy or something age appropriate.  For my son's first birthday...10 days before christmas...I gave the older ppl...like really older ppl...christmas mugs with chocolates in it.  And for the smaller kids...I gave them each a loot bag with a small box of cheerios and some finger snacks found in the baby food section at walmart.

  3. Looks Like Alex had the right answer :)

  4. I did the same as Alex. The 3 - 7 year old's notice if the little ones don't get a bag. So, I gave the 1 year old's baby snacks and the older children got a age appropriate book and snack.

  5. I love love love loot bags and always have a wide range of kids attending too.

my two sons birthdays are going to be a co-birthday in a few weeks.  They will be 2 and 3, age ranges are from 1 to 12.  We have toys in the loot bag like rapper snappers from superduperinc, bubbles, juggling scarves (only 1 for each little kid they like to cover there face to play peek a boo and throw them in the air to catch them), and musical instruments.  the youngest have maracas, and BB (basic beat) sound effects turkey gobbler from West music 2.95 ea.and drums (I got a pack of 6 drums with mallets from oriental trading co. for 12 dollars!), older have spoons, finger symbols, and harmonicas.

I try to keep the loot bag to 3-5 dollars each and give stuff that isn't junk and are timeless and given to kids of all ages.  Our parties have only 6-8 kids at them.  Target has a great dollar bin that has cool stuff in it.

I usually put fruit snacks or goldfish in the loot bag too.

  6. don't give out loot bags for the little ones ... put age and gender appropriate things in the others and write their names on them.

  7. That's a big age range and is going to be hard to find the perfect goodies.

I think it could be or get really expensive to find the right items.

    How many kids are coming?

I'd have them make a craft they could take home.  The younger kids could get help from mom and/or dad and the older kids would be free to explore their creative side.

Maybe do a theme party and offer a door prize or two.  A gift card to target everyone can enjoy!

Good luck and have FUN!  They grow up so fast.

  8. The 1 year old is not really going to understand what a loot bag is.  I'd say any child under 18 months might not really understand what a loot bag is or even why the got one.

If you do want to make up a bag for them I'd recommend putting something that is plastic and will be fine when they place it in the mouth (which is where most things end up with 1 year olds). A set of brightly colored plastic blocks, teething toys, maybe a stuffed toy designed for a child to place his/her mouth on it.

I'd only get one toy per 18 month or younger child.
