What do you put on playground tires to make them smooth?

We just put up a tire swing in our backyard, and we don't know what to put on it to make it smooth, and to keep from getting black stuff all over our hands.

Playgrounds use lots of sweaty little palms to rub in body oil and little kids clothing to rub off the black stain.

In your case though, try using some soap and water and a scrub brush to get rid of the oxidized rubber.
