To me lately it's been less fun then it was before.......i've seen someone spamming with the same Rocky Marciano answers and that whole Blog thing doesn't make any sense to me and I think it just takes up space for no good reason. I see MMA vs. Boxing questions almost every day and that was old a long time ago.........let's hear your honest opinion of the forum........is it as good as it used to be in your opinion.......if not then why and what would you do to improve it if you could.

  1. I think the forum is mostly enjoyable, and I like the "fantasy" fight match-ups.  They give us a chance to talk about the skills the fighters had and have and the strategies we might see in an actual fight.  The difference between a discussion of Mayweather v. Cotto and Mayweather v. Basilio is that we may find out what happens in the first match but we'll never know what might have happened in the second one.

Trolls aren't attracted to empty sites, so their presence here says something positive about this forum -- even if they are trying to wreck it.  It says a lot about them that they come here hiding behind their anonymity and bash other posters.  That's what I have come to expect on political sites, but not on a site dedicated to a sport like boxing.

I think Elmer has a good idea with the IP addresses.  If I could have one "fantasy" come true, it would be that repeat offenders who commit the most serious violations would be flagged by Yahoo and access by anyone at their IP addresses would be suspended.  They would probably faint if they had to come face-to-face with their comrades here, nut that would be better than facing their Yahoo-addicted wives and children.  Better yet, if someone uses his privacy to sabotage a forum he should lose it.

BTW, do the trolls like Tyson so much because he also lisps?

  2. I agree with toughguy. It's incredibly childish. I believe it's the same guy (or few guys) that have been thrown out before. They just keep coming back under new names. Like a disease!

They are just trying to stir up (p**s off) the regulars. They believe they are correct (especially regarding Tyson!) although they are entitled to their opinion, they don't think others are entitled to theirs!

I think the only way to deal with them, is to act as if they don't exisist!

    Thanks! Good question.

  3. my advice to you my friend is to ignore those redundant questions regarding ali vs. marciano, ali vs. tyson, mma vs. boxing, etc. just focus on the questions that the true boxing purists and those that have legitimate boxing questions, views, and opinions. real boxing boxing purists already and truthfully know the answers to these questions agree or disagee. lets put more focus on todays champions, challengers, contenders, and pretenders as well as the state of boxing today.

  4. The forum itself is fine, there are a lot of knowledgeable and honorable boxing fans who share their thoughts and you can learn a great deal from them.  I tend to ignore the trolls, and yeah, they have been pretty active the past couple weeks, but they never last long.  I been frequenting Yahoo boxing since January of 2007 and met a lot of good people on line who really know boxing.  I tend to ignore the trolls as much as possible and focus on the boxing trivia.

Recently a troll copied my avatar and tried to get a rise out of me, but it was so pitiful, I just ignored it.  The Tyson cult has been rather persistent, they tend to ignore reality in their worship of Mike, and they get pretty ugly when someone tries to tell them the truth, but other than that the site is pretty good.  It's an open forum, you pick and choose what to respond to, so as boxing sites go, it is easy to use, the people over all span all levels of compentecy and it is a great way to kill a few minutes of spare time if you are a boxing fan.

Is anything in life really as good as we remember it?  Things change, and the level of interaction on Yahoo boxing tends to ebb and flow with the type of people using it.  Over all I think it, and the people who do not abuse it, are great.  My opinion of the site is positive.

If I could do anything to improve it, I would better police the activity of the trolls who try to abuse the site or it's users.  The framework makes it easy for morons to harass decent people  and the only honorable response is to ignore it most of the time.  When it gets really out of hand you can report it, but the trolls have abused even the Yahoo reporting procedure to the point where it is best just to ignore their rants.  That is where I would improve on Yahoo's original design if I could.

  5. Meh, ingore the spam and focus on the fillet mignon.  I think we ran off the MMA nutjobs with the constant references to all the mounting and writhing about you see.  The forum is fine.  I'd improve it by logging IP#s of the multiples and the trolls to help up identify them, or even banish them.

  6. Good question sir.  We unfortunately have had a few folks that have made it miserable for others here on this forum.  I know exactly what you are referring to with the Rocky Marciano answer.  The person doing that was just doing it to irritate others on here and acting like a child.  Right now, no it's not as good as it used to be but I believe that it can again if people like yourself just get on here and participate with some good questions and answers again which make it all worthwhile.  Try to not let the trolls bother you too much and hopefully Yahoo will kick them out of here soon.  I still enjoy it myself and hope to hear from you again soon, thanks.

Note:  I am getting ready to report another one of the trolls Team Tyson.  Another one is Les.  Do not believe what they say to you.  You can go to my profile as I've been doing this a long time.

Note:  You can add Patrick O'Reiley to that list.  I'm getting ready to report him too.

Note:  Guy is one of the newer trolls on here.  These people just keep creating new accounts.  Where do they find the time?

  7. agreed

  8. Well even without the trolls you tend to have a lot of repeat questions because many new people come to the site and are unaware of what has been asked before. So I tend to just skim over the questions and if something unusual pops out at me I answer it, if not I tend to cruise through the other sections.

When they first opened the section every question was fresh and exciting but now that it has been up for about a year it isn't as new but I still come across some great questions now and again. I think most of the regulars will stay in the section for a while and then take a break for a couple weeks and then come back. I haven't answered very many lately but after the Hopkins Calzaghe, Tarver Woods, and Johnson Dawson fights I'm sure there will be some great questions again and I will find more to say.

  9. I unexpectedly came across one of those unreasonable rants shortly after joining this forum last month.  Despite that, I still find the site very interesting and enjoyable.  I just try to stick to the interesting boxing subjects and not the other stuff.  I'd rather have this forum than not.

  10. I have been on this forum since May of last year. I ask and answer to the best of my ability. Unfortunatly the ''Tyson Groupies'' have come here with their blaberring about his greatness. And if u disagree u are considered a racist by them. Les D, Team Tyson, Guy, Blogbaba3/ and a host of other Trolls have infested this forum as of late. Check my profile and u will see those I have blocked, all are Trolls. To the best of my knowledge it is all the same person with multiple accounts. First it was the MMA trolls now Tyson trolls. Whats next Butterbean trolls? Their like herpes they go away but come back. I try to ignore them but when the attacks become personal I do fly off the handle when I email them (the trolls) but why fight over a computer screen with some witless moron I will never meet? So I will for now on ignore them and their ranting. The troll has a hard on for Myself, Blogbaba(the real one), Toughguy, James, Chuck T, Smitty, Elmer_Fuddstein and pretty much any answerer that doesn't agree with him. If the regulars stick together and ignore this guy things will eventually get back to normal. See this is a forum of opinion and we all have ours, unfortunately the trolls dont respect that and make it personal. Maybe if they got out of mom's basement or got laid they would feel better.

Additional: The list of some of the trolls reads like this so pass it on,

    Team Tyson

    Les D

    Stu G

    Patrick O'reilly

    J C

    Briser

    The hit girl/guy

    John Boy

Blogbaba2 and Blogbaba2  Blogbaba3 (all fake not the real blog read when they opened their accounts).
