  1. its a good test without him, let the younger players stand up like jarred moore and keiran jack

  2. Yes, they need him.

Or someone with his ability but far more brains. They needed him so what does he do - he whacks someone & gets 7 weeks....very bright!

Now his wrist looks like keeping him out for longer. Hahahahaaaaaa.......... I hope it plays up for the rest of the season!

  3. It sure would've been nice to have him but he's not gonna make Swans hit targets more accurate, he just provides a target..

They've been sloppy and made messes with their decisions..

You cant expect to win each week with inconsistent quarters..

I cant wait to see em get their s**t together and play as a team again!

Go Swannies You can Do It!

  4. Its simple No Hall No Swans.

  5. He like the swans best player can't really do much without him but he deserves the punishment so bad luck swans

  6. well I always said that but people claimed oloughlin could do it all and hall didnt do much anyway. but i think halls presence alone is enough to change a game. Put it this way, if hall was playing yesterday the swans would have won.

  7. NO team absolutely NEEDS any player. Each team should be able to win with any line-up (within reason of course). And that's the beauty of our game, even the bottom team can beat the top team sometimes (like when Collingwood defeated West Coast some years back)

When a key player is out though, it changes the match-ups.

For example, One should consider Barry Hall to be the #1 Forward at Sydney. So this means that the best opposition defender will match up against Hall, and usually Hall will be effective and it will be hard for the defender because Hall is a good Forward.

With Hall out, the #1 opposition defender is likely to match up on O'Loughlin and while O'Loughlin is a good forward, he is not as good as Hall and so the defencer's job will be easier.

Same with a midfielder and a Tagger.. say if Judd is out of the Carlton side, the tagger will instead (of Judd) be placed on Marc Murphy or Heath Scotland and so Murphy or Scotland will have a more difficult game instead of Judd.

Again, same with a defender. Usually for the Saints Goddard can run freely as a half back, but with Hudghton and/or Maguire out, he becomes a Key Defender OR the saints would bring in a lesser (skilled) defender like R.Clarke, Gwilt or Ferguson.

SO, while the Swans don't NEED Hall, they play better with him in the team, because he is an important part of the Swans team structure! Just like Judd is to Carlton's midfield, though.

  8. um, not a swans supporter but ill be nice. the Swans dont need Barry Hall just yet. they are ok on the ladder and with no footy on this week they should do ok in the next round.

  9. Yep, I agree with you - the swans need Bazza in the side to win games.

  10. Of course you need him, he straightens up your side, by that i mean the ball gets kicked straight down the guts more with hall as a target, players get out of his way. if the ball is in the hot spot and not wide the chance of kicking goals are greater, he also gives handballs off to players coming past if he doesn't mark the ball.

when hall is playing well, he is hard to stop, even if he isn't playing well, he always has the oppositions best backman on him, now the oppositions best backman is taking someone else.

  11. Of Course they do, Barry Hall makes the Swans a better side, before it all happened Hall was Starting to hit some great form

  12. Any team would miss a player of Hall's calibre especially one that is already on the slide as Sydney seem to be.

Sydney will definitely improve with his return but not, I suspect, to the extent of really troubling the top sides. This applies even moreso when they play away from home.

  13. If we kicked straight we would have won against the dogs so that has nothing to do with Barry but of course Swans are better with him in the team.

With him out (like last year when he was 75% all year) then the other forwards need to be at their best to compensate and Nick Davis is not, O'Keefe is good but not at his best. The only shining light is O'loughlin who has been awesome especially at critical times when champions always show their worth.

Don't worry mate, Barry, Malceski and Fosdike will all return at around the same time and Swans will kick @ss for the rest of the year. Swans aren't hopeless without Barry but he sure as h**l helps!
