Im going on the Caribbean cruise on June 28th. Should I get an unlimited drinks option? (nonalcoholic) What were your favorite restaurants on deck? I know the Windows and Garden Restaurants are free, but if I were going to pick a specialty restaurant, which one? What else should I do? I really just want to know about the dining aspect since I want to make reservations first thing when I get on the ship.

  1. Kick the soda habit and drink the iced tea which is really good and the juices.

The steak house was good but I'd live with the free restaurants. BTW, you can eat as much as you want in any restaurant. If you are say in the main dining room and like a particular dish you can ask for seconds, thirds, whatever. Also, you don't have to eat full portions. I usually ask for a half order of pasta as a first course. You can have every dessert on the menu as much as you want. If you don't like something. Skip it and order something else. Pig out. It's included. And at the steak house, the same story. If you finish what you have, you can have more. You ate that 32 oz porterhouse and want a filet mignon as a chaser... go for it.

Just bring elastic waistband pants and skirts. LOL.

  2. If you drink a lot of soda's, the drinks option is probably a good idea.

Here's an extract about the restaurants on the Spirit from http://www.cruisemates.com/articles/revi...

"There are two main dining rooms onboard Norwegian Spirit: the Garden Room and Windows, which evokes the luxurious ocean liners of yesteryear with its hushed candlelit elegance and gigantic Palladian windows.

NCL's "Freestyle Cruising" allows passengers to choose when and with whom to dine. Beyond the traditional dining rooms, there's Cagney's Steakhouse, on Deck 7 behind the Grand Centrum, which charges $20 per-person and serves steaks and chops and whole lobsters in a 1930s-ish setting. In Le Bistro, NCL's French restaurant (surcharge $15), appetisers include escargot in garlic butter, and a generous array of salads is offered. Order chocolate fondue -- chunks of fresh fruit served in a pineapple "boat" with a pot of melted chocolate to dip it in - for dessert. The Thai/Japanese/Chinese Shogun ($12.50) serves gorgeous Asian-fusion dishes. The complex also includes a Teppanyaki room and sushi bar (a la carte pricing applies), and a Tatami Room where eight guests sit on the floor to dine.

The least impressive of Spirit's dining areas, The Lido buffet, often has long lines. In the evenings, it's converted into a fee-free Italian restaurant -- La Trattoria."

Personally I liked La Trattoria, I thought the food was really good.

  3. My recommendation is just forget all of those specialty restaurants and eat the free food.   Some of those "specialty" restaurants aren't that good anyway. There will be more good free food than you can eat.  Either eat breakfast in the buffet or order the free room service.  At lunch eat in the buffet and make your own salad and sandwiches.  At dinner just eat in the main dining room.  Your cruise is all inclusive except alcoholic beverage so just eat the free food.  The soda card is OK if you are the type person who always has a soft drink in your hand.  If you drink iced tea and lemonade or punch, that's free on the ship all of the time.  Instead of buying soft drinks all day or a soft drink card, drink the free stuff.  Take a big cup or mug, preferably an insulated one, and go make yourself a big cup of tea or lemonade each day.

You can carry onto the ship bottles of soft drinks and water so take a 16 oz six pack of each for your cabin.

The cruise line gets enough money from you for the cruise, don't give them any more.  That's MY recommendation.

  4. Unlimited drinks depends on how you drink.

Buffet- try all types of different foods - also they sometimes close part it off for great Itilan food. Also on your way to the Casino (deck 7 ) there is a great place to get a burger & fries, salas etc.

All Restaurants are good and serve excellent food.

Sailed on the Spirit many times.

Deck 12 forward (past spa ) great bar & dance floor plus oversized chairs for great viewing.

    Enjoy.
