I started playing online poker for about 2 weeks now. I've already read some articles on the hands, stragies of players etc. What would you recommend to be a good online player?

  1. Depends what you are looking for.  What are you going to play?  MTT, SNG, CASH games, etc.  In any case, just as important as knowing how to play is learning how to not go broke.

Bankroll Management I think is the most important aspect to being a successful online player.

Here is a great article that if you follow the guidelines fairly strictly, you will be on the right track to success.

  2. To become a good poker player...   you need to be patient, wait for your hands... and make the move...    over time and with practice you will learn to set traps for people when you get primo hands such as AAs or KKs...    or when you hit the nuts...

    Example:

    Your Hand:   Ad  Kd

    Player 1#     Kh   Js

    Flop:   9d  10d   Qd

as we can see...  you have flopped the best hand... a flush, and your opponent has a straight...    what you need to do in this situation for maximum earning...  you have to check...  and let him bet...   once he bets...  just call...   in till you get to the river...   where you push all in to crush him...

Come play for free at Full Tilt Poker...   they got a lot of great games, and tournaments....

  3. well the only advice i can give you is the same with anything either take lessons, or just keep practicing and as always read read read. but if you dont have the funds to lose money while learning go to http://www.pokerstrategy.com/uLXXGF. Here is where I learned alot of fundamentals I was lacking. plenty of coaching (live and recorded) articles and also if you do well on their tests then they will actually give you a free bankroll. its a win win. also they have a few programs that alow you to practice certain types of games. Try it you'll be glad you did.  I showed one friend that had never played poker before and now they have a bigger bankroll than me.

    good luck !

    see you at the tables.

P.S. if you play poker with fake money (play money) the games are completly different and you will lose money trying to transition over. if at all possible only play with real money.

  4. Don't use real money.  Once you do, you start to lose.
