What do you require to be a auto mechanic in ontario?

hi all..

i am wondering what is needed in order to become a auto mechanic in ontario. a family member of mine has 5 years experiance of auto repair in a diffrent country and wishing to open a shop in ontario. Does he just require a licence? Does he need to take a exam? and if so would you know of where he can take this exam .

If he wants to go independent, he will need a business license.  If he wants to work for a dealership, he can probably get someone to try him out on a thirty day basis.  If he has a difficult time finding one, he could work for lower wages for a week and prove he is capable.
