  1. I tell them that I do not like the taste of suffering and death.

  2. I say, "because I'm a vegetarian and we don't eat meat."

  3. I give them a 1 hour explanation. They never ask me again.

    I explain the:

Health benefits (This is easily consume 1 hour!)

Not enjoying meat to begin with

    How the animals are treated

    My experience

  4. Personal choice.  I don't feel like I need to justify my diet to anyone.

  5. Health reasons...I don't want to eat it. If they get obnoxious, I try and keep my cool because they want a reaction out of me, and if they realize I'm not bothered by them, they tend to shut up.

  6. Sorry, I do not know.  No one has ever asked me that question.

  7. i say:

ive seen what they do to animals and i decided that meat is just not for me.

    they say:well i eat meat:

i say:i dont care what the h**l you eat*walk away*

  8. Say:

I'm not a vegetarian because I love animals,

    I'm a vegetarian because I hate plants!

Make it less uncomfortable by adding humour!

  9. I say for health reasons.  I don't need to get into the whole animal rights debate - most people are just @ssholes about it anyway.

  10. If someone asks me Why don't you eat meat, I either say "Same reason you don't eat humans.." (that keeps em quiet) or I'll just say "Because I am!"

    ;D hehe

    *Vegan*

  11. Because animals are treated unfairly and live their lives only to be killed or forever get milked and lay eggs.

  12. You do not have to defend or explain your diet to any one.  They are just trying to get a rise out of you.

  13. its not about the animals, I did it for health reasons!

  14. "I did a lot of research into how animals are treated on factory farms and slaughterhouses, and I decided it's something I just don't want to support."

  15. say, i dont like it.

  16. That depends on who they are, how they ask and in what context they ask.  If someone I really don't care about is asking out of scorn, I don't bother answering; it's none of their business and nothing I say will satisfy them anyway.  Even if they are well-intentioned, I don't like to talk about it over a meal; chances are they are eating meat at the time and I don't want it to come off as judgement against what they have on their plate.  If the interest is genuine, I just tell them the truth: that I don't want to support industries that harm animals for food and that I feel like it's the right decision for me ethically, environmentally and health-wise.

  17. I tell them I know too much about the meat industry.

  18. I do not and will never understand why people feel they have a right to question your choice of foods.

I'm not vegan but I don't eat red meat.  I also do not eat Chinese food or lasagna.  I do not like the taste of any of those items.  Why should I have to explain myself to anyone.

I don't eat tomatoes.  I'm allergic.  I've had all kinds of folk ask me about my eating a BL without the T.

I find those kinds of questions (about food choices) intrusive and rude.  I don't think we owe them any explanation.  My first instinct is to say, "Because I don't," and walk away.

  19. There is no reason to. There is nothing in meat I cannot get from another source. Nothing should have to die or suffer for me to eat.

  20. You tell them the truth. Seriously O_O

When i ask someone that, they most of the time tell me:

    because i don't like it

    because I'm vegetarian

omg and bunch more..........be creative if you want to tell a lie ;)

    GL

  21. I simply tell them that I don't believe something should have to die just to sustain me. Animals are treated like meat-machines on factory farms and being a vegetarian is WAY better for your health than gorging yourself on meat.
