  1. I agree with the poster who said you should compliment someone in the party...What a nice scarf!  Your nails are beautiful!  That will get them in a good mood for the server, and you will get a share of the larger tips.

  2. Not much, really. Usually, most hostess don't talk because they've got so many people to serve. Small-talk is fine, but you should probably keep it to small-talk. Say "Hello, how can I help you?" and escort them to their table. If they seem to be in the mood to chat, go ahead and chat. Just try and judge by their reaction. Some people will want to chat up a storm and some will want to remain silent.

  3. You should welcome them to the restaurant and let them know who their server is and who the chef is if it's fine dining.

I wouldn't try to carry a conversation while walking single file through a restaurant.

You can always talk about the weather. You could compliment one of the individuals on something unique about their dress, hairstyle, etc.

  4. I bet you want to set your arses down

  5. You can start by saying, here is your tableu , and your waiter will be with you in a moment to take your order. Have a good evening, and come again. The thing is to make them feel welcome and relaxed.

  6. "right this way" is usually what they say & once seated & handing out menus "enjoy your meal".

  7. Say "This way please". If the people are old call them kids. If they are boys or young men call them men and so on. Just gnerally suck up to them.
