What do you say if he asks?

"Who are you in love with"? and it's him?

Like say he over hears a conversation you're having with a friend and he walks up to you and asks "Who are you in love with"

Is he available and do you want him to know?  If so, then the best answer would put him on the spot.

Say, for example, he helped you change a flat tire last month.  You could say, "I really like this guy who helped me with a car problem recently."

It doesn't exactly point to him, but it gives a strong message.  If he's interested, he should pick up the clue.  If he doesn't get it, no harm, no foul.

If, unfortunately, he doesn't respond positively, then you could say, "You think I'm talking about you?  No.  I'm talking about this guy who referred me to a good mechanic" and then change the subject.

You're safe either way.
