We've been watching my boyfriends 5 year old cousin overnight on Friday nights, so his mom can socialize with adults a bit. this is only the second week we've watched him, and while i was making dinner he was sitting in the doorway playing with some blocks and talking to me, and he got really serious and said "i wish you were my mommy instead of my mom" My boyfriend and i both heard it, and kind of looked at each other a bit shocked. i tried to recover as quickly as possible and think of something to say, i told him but then his mommy would miss him. Then luckily the dog walked past and knocked down his tower, so the topic changed to the dog. I honestly had no idea what to say, he said it so serious that it kinda made me feel bad for his mom. Ive been thinking about it alot, hoping it wont come up again but trying to think of what i should say if it does. all i can think of is to tell him how much his mom loves him, but cant think of anything else?

  1. you know why because his real mommy prolly not only gives him love but also has to be the disciplinarian and has to keep the house in order so shes prolly a little more frustrated at times and he doesn't get why. So to him you seem like the cool mom you know we all remember the cool mom that we wish was our mom but in the end you realize mom has her reasons for doing things!

  2. well thats a real touchy

i wouldn't worry all that much about it right now becuase well he's only 5 and he really doesn't understand every detail yet.

Unless he keeps saying it i wouldn't worry all that much about it

but i would be feeling the same way you do if that happened
