What do you say to a friend who knows someone who has been diagnosed with cancer?

I have a friend whos sister has been diagnosed with cancer and it's in the late stages. She's crying and sad and I don't know what to say to her. What can I say to help feel a little better?

  1. You do not have much role to play in the given circumstances. You can at best offer good words for all helps physically and monetarily. You can also be with them and help whatever you can.

    Here more than the patient himself his close family  members require to be consoled telling the fact. For this you can approach a Psychological counselor of oncology. These counselors are available in all cancer hospitals and they will gladly and come and talk to the patient and the family members depending on the situation. -


  2. Just tell her that you are there for her and tell her to keep strong.

  3. Most hospitals and cancer centers have trained Councilors who have dealt this type of situation before, and can provide very effective and caring support.  If the hospital doesn't have anyone, your doctor or church elder will know of someone.

    You are a very caring friend - be there for your friend - realize that they may not want to talk sometimes and at other times it all comes pouring out/
