Q. Why do you think we're not in a period of global warming?

A.) The earth had natural warming and cooling periods before.

Q. So if the earth naturally warmed and cooled before all our CO2, don't you think we could be aggravating a warm period?

A.) There was CO2 being spewed forth before from volcanoes and such.

Q. If you can believe every action has an equal and opposite reaction, how can our fossil fuel use not affect the environment?

A.) It just doesn't....

Q. If we make a change to get away from fossil fuel use and we're wrong what have we hurt?

A.) Global warming is a myth propogated by bunny huggers!

Q. If we don't make a change and we're wrong, haven't we gambled with our childrens' futures?

A.) Global warming is a myth, like the tooth fairy!

Q. Shouldn't we make a change to renewable resources at least because we are inevitably going to run out of fossil fuels?

A.) We aren't going to run out. That's a myth the media pushes to scare us.

What do you say to that?

  1. From my point of view.  AGW or GW proponents usually just call deniers stupid, ignorant or worse.

Doesn't lend much credence to the argument when they have to resort to name calling.  (I get a lot of hate mail, what does that tell you?)

There is too much hypocrisy in the whole AGW and GW dogma.  Way too much.   TOO Many unanswered questions, the same data repeated over and over again.

Let's face it, AGW/GW is a religion of sorts.

It's all like trying to prove creationism exists.  I believe it, most AGW and GW people don't.  But I can't make the AGW or GW people believe it.

Basically, my own opinion.  AGW and GW people get really angry because people don't believe the same thing they do.  They take it personal, start resorting to calling people stupid Wal-Mart breeders...  Doesn't bother me, I know I'm entitled to my opinion, to an AGW or GW person, I'm not.

  2. You may be interested to know that global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters are a direct effect of the shrinking numbers of Pirates since the 1800s. For your interest, I have included a graph of the approximate number of pirates versus the average global temperature over the last 200 years. As you can see, there is a statistically significant inverse relationship between pirates and global temperature."

    hahaha take that

its not CO2 emissions or more cars or oil it less pirates

  3. There's an old saying "Never teach a pig to sing.  It wastes your time and annoys the pig".  Some people just have an answer for everything, and it doesn't matter what argument you might make with them- they cannot be convinced otherwise.

  4. i'd say there's no use debating or arguing anymore. people like that have made it very very clear that just don't give a d**n about the planet and they will NEVER ever do anything to change.

They just keeping ragging on the environmentalists, calling them bunny hugging liberals, and whackjob eco-n***s. I guess people WANT to choke down CO2 polluted air *shrugs*

  5. You don't have to say anything...try listening.

  6. As others have said "the debate is over"

The evidence is clear, but we have to deal with an addictive behaviour from people who don't want to accept that their "drug" of cheap fuel and excessive consumption is actually doing them (and us) harm. They will display all the stages of hostility & denial to anyone trying to take their drug away. So not much point trying to engage them at the moment.

consider how long it has taken to get smoking bans despite 40 years evidence of the harm it does.

Unfortunatly we probably don't have 40 years to turn our culture from an industrial growth society to a life sustaining one. So save you efforts for helping yourself & your community and let the deniers carry on regardless.

  7. First of all, you probably can't do anything to convince someone like that.  There are also people who are convinced the Earth is 6000 years old because "that's what the Bible says".  The Bible doesn't actually say that, but logical argument is futile with some people.

On the other hand, your answers could be stronger, and backed by data.  For example:

There hasn't been this much CO2 in the atmosphere for hundreds of thousands of years, even with a lot of volcanoes:

And, if we're not running low on oil, why is the price so high?  If they say it's a giant conspiracy, or that it's because environmentalists won't let us drill, forget about logical arguments and data, they're WAY too far gone from reality.  Every oil man knows that we're very near peak production possible, and, if oil production in the world is not already going down the time is very near.

  8. its just stating facts and implying they mean something.

1 just because past warming was natural it dose not mean all warming is natural.

2 yes but CO2 in the atmosphere remained constant because carbon sinks were balanced by carbon emissions. humans have unbalanced this equilibrium leading to a build up of CO2 in the atmosphere.

    EDIT

    to your second question

your answer is OK but its not really correct. there are allot of studies on this and most only deal with local climates and it is hard to draw conclusions over the whole world.

basicly just because it is locally colder then normal it dose not mean that globally it wont be warmer.

  9. Say Good bye!
