  1. I hate when poeple ask that!

Im usually shy around people when I first meet them and poeple always say "you dont talk much do you?" i just reply "nope" because then they have nothing to say back!

But if poeple ask why you're quiet just say something like "why are so loud?" I dont know... I cant think of a good comeback

  2. say because you make enough noise for the both of us lol or just tell them your too wrapped up in your own mind to care about speaking

  3. yell and say 'USE YOUR INSIDE VOICE PLEASE!'

thatll shut them up for sure :)

  4. Something along the lines of:

You can learn a lot more if you are listening

You cant learn anything if your the one always talking

You can gain a lot and get a lot further by listening

I find that there is a lot more to gain by listening/quietly observing

My Native American Great Grandmother who lived to be 101 years old told me something close to this!! I think it makes the person stop and think for a minute and even feel a little foolish for never shutting their yap!!

  5. simply put im minding my own business and have nothing to say

  6. I don't say anything.  Instead, I very slowly point with my index finger at something behind them.  They turn to look for a second, and then when they turn back to look at me, I punch them in the teeth.  Then I walk away. It's soo funny seeing the look on what's left of their face! :D

  7. cause I got nuttin to say!!!

  8. You could try paraphrasing one of these:

"Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something."  -- Plato

"It is best to keep your mouth shut and be presumed ignorant than to open it and remove all doubt." -- Mark Twain

"Don't speak unless you can improve on the silence." -- Danish proverb

... or you could say "It's funny; I was just wondering why you talk so much."

  9. I'm practicing the exercise of silence as part of my training to becoming a mime.

  10. Usually I just tell them I have nothing to say.

  11. i usually say cause i have nothing to talk about

  12. I like that "still waters run deep" answer!

You could also tell them you don't feel the need to fill up every spare moment of time with conversation and that sometimes a companionable silence says more than words, at which time they might say, "HUH??" or "Are you being a wise guy?" ,at which time you can  again choose to be silent! ;-)

  13. i will say im listening at u

  14. just say you are focused on what you are doing

  15. I get this all the time because I'm so quiet. I tell them I don't have anything to say.

It's annoying when people ask that. They should be asked why they can't shut up!

  16. Just say "Still waters run deep."

  17. 'umm i don't know'

  18. Tell them "I am thinking! I can't talk and think at the same time!"

  19. Simply say, "I'm sorry, I was thinking of something else".  It is harmless yet respectful, and if you want to be left alone most would get this message.

  20. "No one has a finer command of language than the person who keeps his mouth shut"

    Sam Rayburn

    Congressman - Texas

  21. Tell them you have things to do and think about and have no time for mindless chatter.

  22. Just say, you don't have anything to say.  I'll let you know when I do.

  23. Ahhhh...I hate when people say this to me.  Usually, I don't feel like talking or have nothing on my mind.  I'm more of a listener anyway.  I just say because I'm a little tired from work or something.  So embarrassing!

  24. yeah
