I swim, take aleve and doxepin for sleep. I always so stiff and when I get up from lying or sitting it's hard to walk. Anyone have a link to a fbromyalgia forum?

  1. Most doctors treat with an analgesic (advil, aleve, celebrex, etc)

muscle relaxer (soma, flexeril, skelaxin, etc)

    anti-depressant (cymbalta, effexor, elavil, etc)

sleep medication (sonata, ambien, remeron, benedryl, elavil-a tri-cyclic used for sleep)

Some use pain medication (vicodin, morphine, ultram, etc) and anti-seizure drugs (neurontin, tegretol, etc)

Areas that need to be addressed-

    pain

    sleep

    exercise/stress reduction

    physical activity

    libido

    fatigue

I use complimentary medicine also (chiropractic, massage therapy, vitamins/supplments)

Each patient is so different.  What works for me, won't necessarily work for Jane.

  2. i like teh message board at

    www.ivillage.com

about.com has one too--but those people suppoert misinformation

  3. lyrica, sonata, topamax, midrin, ultram er, and for extremely bad days opana er.  I did not like nortriptyline or cymbalta.  I do like physical therapy, heat therapy, injections as needed, and working out when I can.  Water work outs are great.  Like the other posting said, this gets me through sometimes, but might not work for you.

  4. Well I used to take a lot of heavy prescription medications but the side effects made me feel so much worse so now I just go for a massage every 2 weeks and take some Gravol and Robaxacet. I do take antidepressants every day but a very low dose... I tried to go off them completely but it was a bad situation.

  5. I'm on zoloft, flexeril, ambien, & vicodin for my fibromyalgia symptoms.
