To thank him for giving me driving lessons (in his car, his gas, his time,...), I told this guy that I would like to treat him in a nice restaurant. We're in College and he's my classmates, he's been helping me a lot with driving. Actually, I don't know why he's helping me this much (I'm a black african girl and he's white), not that I am racist or anything, but still, I wonder if he might be interested in me or if it's just because he's a really nice guy. Oh , and do you think to ask him to go to a restaurant with me was ok ?

  1. It sounds like he's a little interested. I think that if he is a little bit shy then this would be the perfect opportunity for the two of you to get together under a different context. If not then it will be just a thank you dinner for teaching you to drive. Dinner sounds nice, just don't go overboard on a REALLY expensive dinner, but something nice.

  2. Nice guys do exist.  I have helped a couple of teens with their driving.  And I haven't asked for anything in return.  I suggest you invite him out to dinner or just coffee to thank him.  The more time you spend together, the more you can learn about each other.  Then, see where it takes you.

  3. He could very well be interested in you. During the first months of my freshman year, I met an African guy, from Africa, who wanted my phone number. Of course, at the time I was so naive that I couldn't possibly think that he was interested in me other than a friend, even though he was a senior and had been in the country for years. My parents scared me away from him because they were upset, but, really? What would have been the harm in one or two dates? (I wasn't attracted to him.)
