i researched and found that i do have some similar symptoms. i could go far into detail about those, but i'm really just wondering if anyone else sometimes feels like they go in a trance. i mean i can really listen to music, close my eyes, or just stare and be in a whole other environment. i can make myself hear and see it. and i've become much more detached since i've learned i can do this. i look in the mirror and act as if im talking to someone, i can also hear myself think and that drives me crazy! also for example, i believe i have insomnia also in that there are many nights i cannot sleep, or wake up in the middle of the night and can't fall back asleep, i can lay in bed and just play scenes of the day, past occurrences, or something im anticipating over and over again and watch it like its a movie. maybe im just over-analyzing this but the more i think about it, the more i believe its some form of scizophrenia. i am pretty certain i am bipolar, and also experience cycles of depression, anxiety, stress, and ADD. i've just learned to live with it all i think and channel my thoughts and emotion. like i said there are many other symptoms, but what are your thoughts and opinions, thanks

by the way im 21 male. oh and if anyone wants to e-mail me and chat on the topic and discuss feel free!

  1. I really don't think you have schizophrenia. If you did the symptoms are much more severe. Seems to me like you are overly anxious. Do you take any thing at nite to fall asleep? If anyone misses sleep they will have symptoms of schizophrenia. Sleep deprives the body of lots of things, especially will work on your brain (nervous system in general.)

If I were you I would go to your reg. md. and ask him for something for sleep. Don't mention schizophrenia to him for now. Then take what he prescribes give it a good chance and I really think you will be back on a good track ! Hang in there and try not to dwell on it a lot. There are lots of people that have trouble sleeping this day and time, I take a medication called klonopin to sleep, and paxil . Paxil is not addictive but klonopin can be, I only take small amounts just at nite. You are gonna be just fine, Don't worry and rest your mind sweetie.

  2. You need to go to a psychiatric doctor. It does sound like some sort of schitzophrenia and probably a mix of some other mental disorders. My dad is the same way. If you live with anyone, it's probably affecting them just as much as it's affecting you.

    Good luck

  3. disassociation

  4. Well I'm no doctor...In my opinion, you're not schizophrenic.  If I had to guess your symptoms fall under ADD/ADHD.  (?)  The paranoia & seeing bugs are probably caused by sleep deprivation / insomnia.

As an aside, I used to worry about the same thing.  It's funny to me now but I used to think I was schizophrenic.  Doctors had to keep reassuring me that I wasn't.  They gave me Klonipin & antidepressants to chill me out.  Anyway, try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night.  A person can go nutty from lack of sleep.  Feel free to e-mail me.  Take it easy.

  5. You don't sound at all schizophrenic. Having an imagination is not the same as hallucinating, and daydreaming is not the same as delusions. Odd peripheral vision as a result of lack of sleep is also not a hallucination.

To be honest, you sound like a totally normal guy, except for one thing.

You are diagnosing yourself with serious mental disorders that you obviously don't have. If you had everything you claim you do, you'd be writing from a psych ward.

What motivates you to do that? Do you need to feel special?

As someone who IS bipolar, all I can say is that you need to educate yourself.

  6. You might check out these websites:

    http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publicati...

    http://www.nami.org

    http://www.schizophrenia.ca/files/Rays_o...

    http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/schizop...

They have a lot of very good information on schizophrenia.  The first three websites have booklets in pdf format that you can download and save for future reference.

There is also an excellent book, "Surviving Schizophrenia: A Manual for Families, Patients, and Providers" by E. Fuller Torrey, Fifth Edition.  I know Barnes & Noble has it.  Amazon.com only has the 4th edition.  That is very good reading and tells a lot about schizophrenia.

  7. Your self-awareness is a good sign.  Truly crazy people don't tend to know they're crazy.  Please see a psychiatrist, not because you're seriously mentally ill, but because I'm sure you can be helped.  Thanks for giving your age, that is within the realm of when schizophrenia usually shows up.  Don't worry about it, but get to a psychiatrist for regular care.  Depression is extremely treatable, I know from experience, so why suffer?  Chances are, lots of people you know are on medication and you just don't know it because the medicine is keeping them well.
