it was the chicken because in the creation account, God created every living thing and they were created to reproduce it's exact kind.  I'm pretty sure God didn't place an egg on earth and expect it to hatch without a mommy chicken!

Million years ago its start. there were not any chicken or any present beans. Only one cell creches. little by little they  terminate to difference beans in present.

i will quote Genesis:

so you can see that it doesnt say: "In the beginning God created a chicken egg" it just says he created the birds of the air and the ifsh of the sea. so obviously the chicken came before the egg.

i think it had to be the chicken. i believe god created all living creatures so my theory is, if god would create the chicken why would he not finish it? he had to have finished the job and made an actual chicken not half way finish it and leave it as an egg. i think he created the chicken and the rooster and they had babies... or eggs.
