wEll as far as i am concerned Ricky is Equal to both Sachin and Lara..

Ricky surpassed 10,000 International runs only last Test match,any cricket player who can do that in my eyes is just as good as Brian Lara Or Sachin Tendulkar..

And another thing who has the best captaincy record?..Ricky Ponting,i say no more...

Yer that's right Ricky is no sachin or lara. None of these players are like each other. How boring would it be to see a team of Sachins, Pontings and Laras. Yer it would be exciting for the first few months, and then it would just be boring. The style of a batsmen is different to everyone else just like your DNA, that slight difference changes them from being like any other player.

Ricky, Sachin and Lara are all magnificant players. full stop. There's nothing to question there.

I read the article and hold the same opinion. No doubt Ponting is a master batsman, more of an accumulator, whereas Tendulkar and Lara are iconic batsmen, in that they diplayed their best in rattling up huge scores against quality bowling attacks and possess an aura that only the out and out champions carry. There have been times where Tendulkar and in particular Lara have had to carry the team by their batting, Ponting has never had such a weight of responsibility thrust on him. Lastly, the cricketing world admire and get excited by Tendulkar and Lara, the same however cannot be said of Ponting.

Forget about Lara who has always preformed under pressure and ponting is no match to the legend.

S.Waugh has handed a team which had the greats like warne,mcgrah.........................the best team in the world you enjoy batting when you have the upper hand and it is a different ball game batting under pressure.

The truth is Sangakkara is a far better batsman than Ricky Ponting who stands the ground like a true Lion.

Sangakkara is today's Lara.

Boycott is an Aussie hating idiot. He couldn't 'cut it' against them when he was playing & this is his school kid way of 'getting even'. Did you read the Q from David K down the page from yours? The answers there will tell you what most people think of his opinion. According to the publication mentioned , Cricket Skills & Practice, o copy of which I have since obtained, Bradman, Hobbs, Ponting,Pollock,Tendulkar & Trumper are the most outstanding batsmen of all time.I think they would have given more careful consideration to the matter then Boycott did, & it would have been fully researched before any such statement was made. Lara didn't figure in the top six, but then neither did a lot of other notables, such as Hayden & some of his contempories. I wonder why it is that people such as yourself make so much of one bitter has beens biased opinions? Use your own judgement, not some clapped out ex players.

I agree with that....Both Sachin and Lara are great legends but Ponting is not.

Even though he is a good batsman and a captain his statistics aren't outstanding as Lara's or Sachin's . On the other hand he plays with very good players with a little pressure, but the other tow play with pressure because in India there are lots of crowd and lots of expectations for Sachin and Lara played one man innings all the time.
