because in the Philippines, we're too vertically challenged to really be good at Basketball, There's no space for us to put soccer fields, etc.

While you can find a bar with a billiard table almost anywhere :D

because it is one of the most popular sport in the philippines plus the fact that it is so affordable.

Why are most basketball players black?....the only game in town is that and a way out for many....same in the Philippines...probably puts food on the table for some and the only game in town!!

Because they're Filipinos. Blacks dominate basketball. Whites football. Chinese pingpong. Filipino billiards.

Simple, economic & religious reason.  Majority of Filipinos are catholics, so contraceptives are out of the question.  The result, too many kids to feed and of course, most of them won't be able to go to school, some at minor ages are forced to work right away to help with the family so the rest who have nothing to do, where else would he go? He or she will join the rest of those bums and just hang out to any cheap or free place where there's a pool/billiard to play with and tadaahh, you got a lot of discovered and still undiscovered future "Batas".
