American culture is made up of the culture of people from other nations. The original "culture" in the colonies was mostly British. Many of our "ideas" and "culture" reflect our British heritage. Our culture is also based upon the First Amendment of the Constitution. The right to speak freely without restricting the rights of others.

Our culture is also reflected in our system of government, federalism. We have several "types" of government, from national to local, and they all share powers. But the ultimate power rests with the people. That is a political culture that not too many nations have. Over the course of our history, we have been able to assimilate other cultures into our own. Many who come here, bring different ideals and culture, but eventually American culture becomes part of their and/or the lives of their children.
