What do you think 'bout the British Monarchy?

Who is the target of respondent? British only? I'm a Southeast Asian, may I answer?

Anyway, I read in many forums, it's funny (and weird at the same time) to see how British likes and dislikes their own monarchy.

My country is a Republic, but in the past it consisted of hundreds of small monarchs. Nowadays, they still exist as 'culture guardian' for each of their area or ethnicity. Titles still surpass, changing of throne still being done. Some provincial govts assigned public fund to preserve ancient palaces. Only one Sultanate being granted a province of its own.

In a way, we still give full respect to all of these aristocracies. Whether we like monarchy system or not, they ARE part of our culture.

Many times I read harsh comments about British monarchy (and the Royal Family), even from the Brits themselves (makes me sometimes doubted the opinion that Britain is full of people with good courtesies...). Not mentioning the growing 'separatism' between states(?) in the UK. From an outsider point of view, I just want to say that monarchy is what makes UK unique. The union itself is also unique. It's sad to see if one day the British monarchy being abolished, or one of the states separates...
