Which of these three earn more salary and how long does it take to become one? Give me in order please if you can and tell why? Please don't say what you like to do because I like three. Physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or physical therapist? Thank You.

  1. Nurse practicioners probably have the highest potential. However, it will be variable.  Physician assistants will also be close.  However, a physical therapist who has gone into managment or owns their own business has the potential to out earn all three.

For physician assistant, BS level programs do exist, but it's my impression that nearly all are master's degree programs.

Nurse practicioners also earn their master's degree; however, the DNP is quickly evolving.  It may be more wise to ask a nurse about this, but I do believe that most NPs do not have their NP as their entry level degree...I believe most of them work at their careers for several years as RNs before coming NPs.

PTs have a minimum requirement of having their master's degree, but most programs are now doctorate level programs that take about 7 years to complete.

...at their most basic average's though, NPs and PAs probably earn the same roughly $75,000.  PT average salary is around $66,000
