The first answerer is correct. Dale Earnhardt Sr. passed away on the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500. He didn't retire, but wrecked during the race, so unfortunately he would not be able to say anything about it. RIP

I think he would do great in the race! He always tried his hardest and was determined to win no matter what and I don't think it would be any different in any type of car. RIP Dale Earnhardt Sr.

I think he would have liked it.  With as tough as they are and the fact that they don't seem to wreck as easily, I think he would have had a lot of fun "rattling people's cages."  LOL  He would appreciate all the beating and banging that the COT can take and he would have pushed it to the limits.  He would have also like the new restrictor plate package and how these cars work in the draft.

I think he'd be saying, "d**n, what are you all complaining about?" as he drove the tires off his ride!  Sr didn't make a habit of complaining.  He just drove.

I am certain that he would have stepped up, figured out the COT, and been winning instead of pointing the finger at the car.

No matter how long it's been, my heart goes out to Jr tomorrow.  It must be very hard for him to keep his head in the game while missing his Dad.

Unfortunately other drivers lives didn't seem to be as important as Dales until NASCAR improved safety so in all honesty I don't think SR or NASCAR would have ever seen the COT if SR didn't pass away.  If he was around he'd be an owner and would voice his opinion for upgrades to the COT but I actually think he would have agreed with the car and the way it raced.

I think he'd of loved it. With the bumpers matching would of been right up his alley, also just a nudge & you steal someone's air. He would of won in it for sure. Like always, he would of had a few words to say about it to NASCAR for sure. That would of been sweet to see....RIP Senior.

I think he would say he liked it. Because the driver in the COT has to wheel it more than they use to do like the old days. And another thing he would like that the bumpers on the cars align up exactly so he would be able to put the bumper to people more to rattle their cages as he called it. He would brag about how tough the car is. He loved beating and banging that's for sure. RIP Dale Sr.
