He is a boy, he loved to play with cars and all those boys things, but recently since 2006 he started collecting Bratz Dolls. He plays too, and he has a lot of fun. He like girls obviously and I don't think he is g*y. Oh I forgot... When he watch a movie or a series, he always acts as the girly girl of the series or movie and all those things, I am very worried, help please. He is 13 years old. He has a lot of dolls but just Bratz ones cuz he said that other dolls are horrible and he hate other toys, he just like Bratz.

I'm really worried what do you think, is he a g*y? please don't be rude!!

Than you!

  1. Dear Worried:

The first thing I should explain is the frontal lobe of the brain. This is where personality and emotion live. The frontal lobe does not stop developing until you are in your early 20's. I actually doubt that some of them have fully developed.

Anyway, understanding this you must realize that his personality and emotions are still developing. This could be a reaction to the way he has been treated in life as well has his only cognitive response. In other words, if he perceives that girls get love, attention and "connection" with parental figures then he "perceives" that he is not getting this, he could then begin to emulate this "girly girl" persona.

I can understand your concern for him but please let your focus be on loving and protecting him and not so much on his actions unless these actions are hurtful to him. Playing with dolls is merely an expression of who and what he feels inside. Mean people will be mean to him but there is nothing we can do to stop that but you can love and care for him. Be there for him and let him enjoy this relief he finds in what he does.

Give him a hug for me and let him know it's o.k. to be himself.

  3. I have unique experince with this, and although there's no way anyone one here can say with any certainty what he's turning out to be, I can give you some insight.

I have a coworker that's near retirement. Very nice, agreeable person. But he's fairly feminine and every single new person that works around him will eventually ask someone else if he's g*y. But the man has been married twice and I can vouch for his true sexual desire toward the opposite s*x. I've found him using the company computer to look at s**y photos of girls several times and women are his favorite topic! lol

But the reason for his femininity is that he also was raised solely by his mother, with little in the way of a male role model. So naturally, instead of having a man to emulate, he picked up all the mannerisms of his mother.

This kind of thing is veeeeery common and can be much more obvious if that person is homeschooled or goes to a small rural school.
