I live in South Mississippi and I think it's gonna hit us hard .. what does everyone else think? I hope to God it's not like Katrina because that was such a terrible time to go through for me and the people down here. I just want to hear other peoples opinions of what they think it will do and where it will hit worst etc etc.

  1. I'm from Louisiana, tracking the storm,  and everyone is getting prepared. When Hurricane Gustav makes landfall on Monday evening or Tuesday morning; It'll make landfall as a Cat. 3; I'm not saying that it won't increase to a Cat 4., but there's a possibility. When Hurricane Gustav makes landfall it'll hit west of New Orleans. Everyone is being evacuated out of New Orleans today and tomorrow morning; All animals have been moved to shelters for safe keeping; All hotels will be shut down tomorrow around 12:00 p.m. You guys will probably get a lot of rain and flooding; There's no need to be scared, but just be prepared into the saftey zone.

  2. the same thing that any other hurricane does.

  3. I'm from South Arkansas and I've been watching the weather channel all morning. I don't like the looks of the projected path because it shows us getting something from this storm. The hurricane is now a cat.4 and they said they think it will get bigger once it hits the gulf. I'm not even going to lie I'm freaking scared. Even if we don't get hit by the hurricane we can get tornados from it, and I was 6 miles away from the last one that tore Dumas Arkansas apart.

  4. I think it will hit New Orleans the worst. :( I live in Japan, and we are always getting tropical storms, but never anything like this. I hope everyone keeps their pets with them this time, and stocks up on food, flashlights, etc.

  5. I'm in south mississippi too (was in new orleans though for katrina)

I'm not taking these forecasts to heart, as its not even in the gulf yet.  As we know from the past they NEVER know where its really going, until its almost there.  and right now its not even close.

So like us, just be prepared for the worst, and hope for the best.  Since i'm from new orleans, i have no idea how you guys here get information out.. ive rarely seen any info yet on the new orleans news channels (the only ones we get here in MS)  I know theres at least one MS news station, but we dont get it!   so, that part, im not used to!

  6. Right now the latest track projection is such that coastal Mississippi would be spared the worst from Gustav, as the landfall is more over the central Louisiana coast. However the track is dependent on the strength of the upper high pressure system over the eastern U.S., which could fluctuate in strength.  If it weakens the track could be pulled eastward.
