Question:

What do you think - Teacher crushing on Student?

In my math class, we have a teacher who is male and about the age of 23.

Here's the thing, I've noticed that when he lectures, he mostly looks or holds the longest eye contact with me than he does with everyone else. There are also times I catch him randomly glancing at me. He's the quiet/shy type of teacher and he has this soft quiet voice, so it's kind of hard to hear him lecture when you're sitting at the back (I don't sit at the back tho, I sit near the door).

I'm wondering if he's got starting to have some infatuation towards me, or if he's somewhat concerned with something?

I'm 19, (the eldest in the class since I moved from the States to the Philippines for college) and everyone pretty much knows i'm a fo"ranger" (foreigner). Does that also have something to do with his glancing at me, etc?

I like him as a teacher because he teaches well, but I don't like him the way students have crushes on their teachers.

What do you guys think?

  1. That's gross.

  2. some teachers have the habit of staring at the person who is known to fall behind the class...you know, the student who is likely to not understand. cause teachers can get prejudiced over time. they might even know you before you meet them in class on the first day of school because they like to gossip a lot. i am a teacher, too, but i'm afraid this is partly the truth concerning some teachers. they are not interested in what might possibly be the student's problem, they are interested in the momentary feedback.

  3. I think with that evidence alone, you are reaching to think he has a crush on you. I have a habit of looking more often at 2 types of students, the ones most likely to act up, and ones like you. The foreigner (sorry for the crass term) who may have trouble understanding me, thus may need more direct attention to check for understanding.

  4. Get over yourself, that's the kind of messed up thinking that gets teachers in trouble.  If he hasn't come out and hit on you, leave it be.  In a math class for that matter, many students don't get it, so it's the teachers job to scan and try to find issues, to try to resolve them, since most kids these days will just "take a zero, cuz it's too hard."

  5. I also have a male teacher for history class and you may think he is always looking at  you but that is the way i felt also. But he looks at everyone  to make sure everyone pays attention. And a lot of kids in the class also felt the same way.

  6. Well, it's a bit weird, if it's anything.

  7. I dont  think he has anything in mind,,
