I honestly believe that this song has a deeper meaning than what is implied. I do not like the song for several reasons personally, but I won't go into that. I believe the song is about how he used to be on top, but as he moved on in life, he moved down in life. When he was on top, he looked down and treated other's terribly. For this he believes he will not make it into his heaven. Hence, "For some reason I can't explain, I know  St. Peter won't call my name." Well, that's my input.

I've heard rumors that the song is about GOD, and religion!!! But i also heard it's about the Pope, and the Catholic Church, which makes since, because the Popes of the past had way more power than the Pope of today, they practically ruled the world. And how alot of Catholic followers are rebelling from their church over many reasons.
