  1. It depends on whether the player is playing a tournament.

    Tournament training:

-Max 2 hours on court- hitting, adjusting to court conditions (altitude, temp, humidity etc.), playing sets and tie-breakers etc.

-Maybe 1 hour of off-court training in the weight room.

    Rest and Relaxation between matches.

    Non-Tournament Training:

-About 5 hours on court daily- honing groundies, serves etc., set play, tie-break play.

-At least 2 hours off court training- strength, stamina, speed etc.

Professionals rarely ever use ball machines, they usually have one or two practice partners (usually other pro's) to hit with all the time.

  2. I used to train at some academies.

Usually training starts at around 8:30 AM with about 30 minutes of warm ups.  Then for a couple hours there is training in a specific stroke (forehand, backhand, etc)

Then there is a break for lunch (around 2 hours) then around 1pm there is match play.

Training ends around 4 or 5 usually.  Some of the higher level players work out with weights afterwards or do fitness training like running.

Then dinner around 6, then free for the rest of the night until bed.

  3. James Blake said his schedule consisted of something like 2-4 hours of tennis, 1-2 hours of drill training, 1 hour of sprint training, weight lifting (cant remeber how long for) and then he goes for runs every other day. So as you can see its not all about the tennis. He wrote more on jamesblaketennis.com under ask james if you wanna have a look. I saw roger training once- he was using his hand to hit a basketball over the net playing mini tennis, was interesting.
